Your 3 Step Plan to Stop Pulling Your Hair
After a health retreat (bye girl scout cookies!), I realized clean foods, probiotics and exercise, stopped my hair pulling!
I’m so excited you’re joining me on this trial diet and exercise program starting Monday, February 24th to see if it will reduce your hair pulling.
Your 3 steps include:
Eating clean from the suggested food list below
Taking a daily refrigerated probiotic
Working out for at least one hour
Many of the suggestions on foods to enjoy and avoid (below) come from the John Kender diet for trichotillomania, along with things that have worked for me*
*Please consult with your doctor before beginning any new diet, supplement or workout routine. I am not a doctor and this is not professional medical advice.
1. Eat (the right) clean foods. Nothing processed!
The entire left side of the list below are foods to ENJOY. The entire right side are foods to AVOID. Stay away from sugar. Here’s why sugar is not good for trichotillomania.
2. Add a Refrigerated Probiotic to Stop Hair Pulling
There’s been research to suggest a gut-brain connection to trichotillomania so adding a probiotic may help you resist the urge to pull your hair. Pharmacies have refrigerated probiotics behind the counter (no rx needed!) or you can go to stores like Whole Foods and look for them in the cooler section near supplements and vitamins. Refrigerated varieties from my understanding keep more good bacteria alive than shelved selections.
Another supplement to add if interested is NAC. You can buy it on amazon.
I add my probiotic to my daily smoothie and the recipe for that is here.
3. Workout to help mood and stop hair pulling!
If you don’t typically exercise, start with a brisk walk for two 30 minute sessions or work up to one hour slowly. It’s best if you can break a sweat.
Here are target heart rates for your age if you have a fitness tracker.
Simple as that! A 3 step, 3 day challenge!

Trich sucks. Let’s freaking ruin her. ;)
